Rotarian Mogbeyi Tolu Omatsola was born in Lagos on the 3rd of August, 1953 and hails from Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. He had his Primary and Secondary education in Lagos between 1959 and 1972 – St. Peter’s Primary School, Faji, Lagos, Ereko Methodist School, Lagos and the prestigious Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos.
He read Law at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) graduated in 1977 and was called to the Nigeria Bar on the 8th of July, 1978. He is the Principal Partner of Mogbeyi Tolu Omatsola & Co. a firm of Legal Practitioners based in Jos, Plateau State and he is a Notary Public.
When I left Lagos on the 10th of January, 2014 enroute San Diego, California via Dubai and Seattle, Washington State, (a 33 hour journey) I did not know what to expect. It was with trepidation and some excitement that I embarked on that trip having heard very intimidating tales from some Past District Governors.
Thankfully 80% of all the disciplinary aspects of their stories and counsel did not come to pass. With the current trend towards relaxing the rules and culture of Rotary to accommodate changing times, the Trainers at the International Assembly were flexible and very friendly – not strict or draconian. They appreciated and accommodated whatever challenges you were facing and were always ready to help.
